My first guitar

My name is Charles-Antoine and I am a software engineering student at the École de Technologie Supérieure. I lived two winters in Ste-Anne-des-Monts, in Gaspésie, where I combined work, study and skiing. Despite the large number of hours that I devote to these last occupations, I always manage to keep time for listening and practicing one of the most beautiful activities of my journey: music.

My musical journey

From the age of 4, I began to show my parents an interest in learning to play the violin. My parents, skeptical of the durability of my interest in the instrument, decided instead to equip me with a less expensive instrument, a small guitar. At the age of 6, my interest had still not waned, so my parents signed me up for violin lessons at the CMM with Marie-Hélène. I was hooked right away and I continued to take lessons for 7 years with Gabriella and then Marie-Anne as teachers. Around the age of 13, I lost a little motivation to learn the violin and felt like learning to play the electric guitar, so I took 3 years of lessons with Dany and Raphaël. In parallel with the lessons, I had the opportunity to play in the string ensemble with Zoé as well as in the Jazz combo with Pierre. I draw excellent memories from my musical journey at the CMM but above all very good musical knowledge that allows me to continue to flourish in music.

What my musical journey has brought me

Today, music for me is about creating digital music, jamming with friends or simply taking out my guitar and giving myself over to the practice of this instrument. It also means going to listen to other musicians performing or discovering new music around the world. In short, regardless of the instrument or the motivation that varies over time, music is the continuous exploration of an endless universe.
