These intuitions flirting with magical thinking, have recently been consolidated into a true knowledge. We now know that music reduces stress and anxiety. It alleviates pain and releases pleasure molecules. In these times of isolation, does music become an essential need?
The experts, all Canada Research Chairs, respond:
Robert Zatorre, Professor at McGill University, will talk about music as a euphoric tonic
Sonia Lupien, Professor at the University of Montreal, will speak of music as a tranquilizer
Mathieu Roy, Professor at McGill University, will talk about music as a painkiller
Isabelle Peretz, Professor at the University of Montreal, will participate as the event organizer
Sophie-Andrée Blondin, host of Radio-Canada's science program "The Light Years" will be the moderator.
