When a young singer decided to audition for the renowned CĂ©gep Saint-Laurent music program, she knew the challenge would be significant. With only a few months to prepare — and little knowledge of music theory, dictation, or solfĂšge — her dream seemed difficult to achieve.

That was before she discovered the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie and its educational partner, Productions Largo. Together, these two institutions share a clear mission: to make high-quality music education accessible to everyone, regardless of their starting level.

Under the guidance of Louis Plouffe, a teacher well known for his structured and caring approach, AlizĂ©e embarked on an intensive six-month journey. Step by step, she studied all six levels of the Conservatory’s program, combining theory, dictation, and solfĂšge. This curriculum — developed over years of teaching — gave her the solid foundation she needed to confidently face the most demanding entrance exams at the collegiate level.
“Our methods are designed to make music theory intuitive,” explains Louis Plouffe. “Students learn to hear what they read and to understand what they sing. That’s how musical instinct becomes true mastery.”

For Marie-Anne Rozankovic, General Director of the Conservatoire, this achievement perfectly reflects the essence of the institution’s educational mission:

“Musical excellence is not measured only by talent, but above all by the student’s rigor and self-discipline. Learning music also means learning to push oneself, to listen, and to persevere. Each milestone achieved shapes both the artist and the person.”

The series includes six (6) music theory and six (6) solfege and dictation notebooks.

The results speak for themselves. After several months of dedicated effort, AlizĂ©e successfully passed her entrance exams and was admitted to CĂ©gep Saint-Laurent’s music program. Her journey now inspires other students who dream of pursuing higher musical studies — proof that, with the right tools and attentive guidance, passion and perseverance can bridge any gap.

This success highlights the shared mission of the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie and Productions Largo: to nurture the next generation of musicians through structured teaching, personalized support, and a deep love of music.
