Nuna and the many facets of music
Reading time: 5 minutes
At what age did you start playing the violin, and why did you choose that instrument?
I started playing the violin at the age of six. My parents wanted to introduce me to music, and they chose the violin for me.
What has your musical journey been like?
Nuna when she started the violin at age 6.
From the age of six to sixteen, I took private violin lessons at the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie (CMM). I also participated in several ensembles at the conservatory. At the end of high school and the beginning of my college studies, I wanted to broaden my musical experience, so I also got involved with the Orchestre symphonique des jeunes de la Montérégie (OSJM).
Moreover, thanks to the solid musical training I received at the CMM, I now have the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge with others by teaching violin and early childhood music classes at the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie.
What are your other interests?
I have a deep passion for reading and for exploring different musical genres.
What role does music play in your life?
Music is ever-present in my life. Every day, it influences my decisions, my mood, my interactions, and more. It allows me to relax, meet new people, and develop new skills. In short, it helps me grow on many levels! Without music, I definitely wouldn’t be the person I’ve become today.
How does music help you in your current field of study?
I’m currently studying in the Social Sciences program at Cégep Jean-de-Brébeuf. My program focuses on the study of humans and their behaviors, which leads me to take courses like sociology and psychology.

Through the various activities I’m involved in, whether at the CMM or with the OSJM, I observe certain social and behavioral phenomena that are covered in my courses. Music therefore brings a concrete and vivid dimension to the concepts I discover in class.
My musical journey has also taught me discipline and helped me develop perseverance in my work. I always strive to honor my commitments and see things through to the end.
