Have you ever wondered who the yellow-shirted boy who plays guitar on the front page of our new website was? We are pleased to present it to you today by inaugurating this first column dedicated to the career of former students of the Conservatoire. This column, which will be published in each newsletter (Le journal du CMM ), will allow you to meet young people who have studied music at the Conservatoire and to share their journey with you.

For some of you, it will be a way of jogging memories and for others, an opportunity to get to know young people who once—and still—make music a part of their lives.

Science and music are completely compatible

Here is Robin Guay-Lord. He studied guitar at the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie with Mr. Roque Carbajo (now retired) from the age of 7 until the end of his high-school studies. Passionate about science and technology, he completed a bachelor's and a master's degree in biomedical engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal. For 3 years, he has worked at Biospective in the R&D team, where he develops algorithms to automate the analysis of medical images in the context of clinical studies.

The lockdown linked to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 allowed him to return to the practice of his instrument. “I have never had so much fun playing the guitar!”—he told us.
