Sebastian and his violin
Reading time: 5 minutes
My beginnings
Sebastian Medina, violinist
Born in Montreal, Sebastian began learning the violin at the age of 8, motivated by his parents, with private lessons. Coming from a family of musicians in Colombia, he quickly distinguished himself with his charisma and love for the instrument. Throughout his training, he participated in the Suzuki Festival in Colombia three times during his summer vacations. He had the opportunity to collaborate with 163 musicians from different countries and to meet Ms. Marilyn O’Boyle and many other teachers, whose active and tireless work greatly contributed to the Suzuki movement in Latin America.
A musical journey
However, his journey does not end there. Sebastian began, at the age of 14, taking lessons at the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie under the tutelage of Ms. Anne Saint-Cyr. However, his love for the instrument was truly born during a series of private lessons with his cousin, which further motivated him to share his passion, notably by performing small concerts in local churches. In addition, since his first year of high school at Magdeleine in the Intermediate Study Program, young Sebastian has participated every year in the Mag en Spectacle, which aims to highlight the passions of students.
Symphony orchestra
In 2023, having further refined his technique with his conservatory classes, Sebastian joined the Montérégie Youth Symphony Orchestra, ready to venture into the world of ensemble music, and what a journey it was for him. Several concerts and an AOJQ festival later, Sebastian finds himself before you to perform a classic from the student repertoire.

Teaching
Now a violin teacher himself, Sebastian plans to continue his studies in music and/or animal biology, his second great passion, at Cégep Saint-Laurent. Only time will tell what path awaits him!
